Jill Rennie

Jill started dancing age 3, at the old premises in Adamton Road, Prestwick. In 1979 age 11, she gained a scholarship to ”Scottish Ballet” in Glasgow, where she studied for 3 years.

Succsessfully auditioning for ”Bush Davies School of Performing Arts” in 1982, Jill uprooted and moved to East Grinstead in West Sussex, where she studied intensivly for the next 5 years, gaining many RAD & ISTD dancing & teaching certificates in ballet, modern, tap, national, drama & singing.

Over the next 20 years, Jill worked as a professional dancer all over the world. Dancing in Opera, Musicals, Pantomimes, Cabaret, T.V. & Cruise Ships, in a Dance Captain/ Choreographer position, producing shows.

Jill has now retired from her professional dance career, but still remains very much involved in the teaching side of dance. She now lives and works in Norway.



June Skinner became a pupil of the Karen Mitchell School when she was 5 years old. She excelled in all her R.A.D. Ballet examinations and successfully auditioned for Scottish Ballet Scholarship classes when she was 18 and graduated to the Company when she was 21.

June danced with Scottish Ballet for 9 years travelling to many countries throughout Europe. She also had the opportunity to dance in America and Australia. One of the highlights of her career was when Rudolph Nureyev danced with the Company in La Sylphide.

£2,250.00 prize awarded by Karen Mitchell for the James Mitchell Scholarship
for Dansarena pupils.

Pictured is 11 year old Nicole Bryden who won the Junior Awards Trophy for Grade 4 in the recent competition held by the R.A.D. Scottish Region at Edinburgh's Dance Base.



Ashton McTear

Eleven year old Ashton McTear
was the winner of the Grade 4/5 section of the Scottish Junior
Awards of the R.A.D. for Classical Ballet students at the Annual Competition held in October 2007.

Former Dansarena pupil Laura Jane Gibson has just secured a contract to dance professionally with the Birmingham Royal Ballet Company.

Laura Jane began dancing at Dansarena at the age of 3 and passed all her dance examinations with Honours and Distinction.

Her final three years of training were done at Elmhurst Ballet School outside Birmingham.

Laura Jane has been chosen to dance in the Ballet Paquita and will also appear in Daphne and Chloe with BRB.


Vicky Riddoch

Vicky is now in the 3rd and final year of her Dance Degree course at The London Studio Centre.

Vicky came top of her year in her recent Contemporary Exam.



April McMillan

April is now half way through her third and final year of Professional Dance training at BODYWORK in Cambridge.

She has an excellent student record and has performed in the cast of Snow White in Dubai.

April is now also a fully qualified aerobics instructor.




Scott Gillies

Scott is currently living in the States where he is Resident Director of 12 Irish Tenors and also dancing in Spirit Of The Dance as Lead boy and Company Manager.

The past 5 years he has been Dance Captain or Company Manager for the touring productions. He also assisted in choreographing the show Dancing Queen which toured the UK including The Kings in Glasgow.

The highlight of his career was dancing in Michael Jacksons charity concert 'Michael Jackson And Friends' in front of 100,00 people in the Olympic Stadiums of Seoul, South Korea and Munich, Germany with Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Luther Vandross and Lionel Ritchie.

Former Dansarena Pupil Kathryn Tuckerman from Prestwick has just graduated from the Central School of Ballet in London and has been touring with the British Gas Company.

Having gained Honours for all her R.A.D. Graded Ballet and I.S.T.D. Graded Tap and Modern Theatre Examinations, Kathryn went on to excel in her Major Examinations before auditioning successfully for the Central School of Ballet in London.





Having completed her 2 years of Vocational Professional training at this highly prestigious school, Kathryn now has the opportunity to go on tour with the School's Company to 24 venues all over Britain.

Kathryn recently opened the Central School's performance at the Wembly Arena with a Pas De Deux, choreographed for her and her dance partner.

 

Dansarena enters candidates annually for the John Marshall Shield for Vocational Ballet Students.

The competition is run by the R.A.D's. Regional Committee of Scotland and attracts entrants from Dance schools all over Scotland.

Pupils are encouraged to audition each year for the Scottish Ballet's Junior and Senior Associate Dance Training scheme in Glasgow. Many candidates have been successful in gaining places and have benefited enormously from the extra tuition these classes provide.
